We went to the festival it was great, we have been going for 8 years, it is always fun, even my kids are older now, they still like going and play the cake walk and eat gumbo
Beautiful church but not so friendly parishioners, they are in need of being reminded it's the house of God and All are welcomed and not just a certain race, color and be more acceptable to whom ever shows up by greeting them just with smile, that's not so hard, body language, facial expressions speak louder than words. God bless this Church and get rid of the hypocrisy existing within the parishioners they do more harm than good. Haven't we learned throughout history.
Love my Church. It feels like home and they do so many good works!
I am going to try to give an honest review because I think it helps people decide if they will fit into this parish. I hope I don't hurt any feelings
I go to the 8:30 Mass on Sunday mornings. I get there early to pray and prepare myself for Mass. Overall, it is a prayerful atmosphere, but there are 4 -5 older ladies who sit on the front row who seem to think this is a good time to catch up with each other on what is going on in their lives. While I understand the need for community and each other, it is HUGE distraction for those of us who came to pray and prepare ourselves for the amazing experience of the Mass. I wish someone would ask them to please take their social time outside the Church.
The choir is amazing. They have beautiful voices and are obviously very gifted. But, the vocal gymnastics used to show their talent make it a bit difficult for those of us who are not musically gifted to participate in the Mass. So, it is a trade off, you gain the blessing of hearing beautiful voices, but unless you are equally talented, you lose the blessing of being able to fully participate in the Mass.
The priest: Okay, this is a tough one for me and a HUGE issue. The only reasons I know the name of the parish priest are that it is printed in the bulletin and either the guest celebrant thanks him for allowing him to be there or the deacon thanks the guest celebrant for coming. This parish priest almost never celebrates Mass with his parish. I have been going to Mass over 2 months and have seen him 2 or 3 times. I don't know what is up with that, but it makes it hard for me.
The deacons are all very reverent and respectful. I enjoy hearing them read the Gospel and most of their homilies
The atmosphere during Communion is amazing. I love it. Everyone seems to understand the gravity of receiving the body of Christ and that is refreshing.
The parish offers a lot of ways to get involved and seems to be very welcoming
Unfortunately the new pastor there, Fr. John ROONEY, has a problem with the rights of catholics and Canon law.
I love going to Mass here I truly feel God's presence
We used to attend St. Paul the Apostle's, but I started coming here when my husband's work schedule changed and their Mass times worked out better for us on Sunday mornings. I love the old school feel of the church and all the family attendance! The priest is super down to earth and his homilies are easy to listen to. Definitely glad we started attending and plan to get more involved in the future!
Lovely woodwork an grounds, music and vocalist lovely, welcoming environment... Except priests shake hands when I think that spreads germs and is kind of stand offish in a time where there is so little physical affection because everyone is weird about everything. Hugs are important. At the other church all of the little children run up to hug the priest just like there story of Jesus in Bible with the little children... This is how it should be.
